I left for Tawau Sabah on December 13th 2012 and return home via Kota Kinabalu on December 18th 2012.
The trip was mainly to fill some slots at a Seminar on New Business opportunities for Sabah locals organized by IKS (Small and Medium Industries) Sabah.
Upon reaching Tawau I took a one hour taxi ride to Semporna.
By the time I reached Semporna it was pitch dark and frankly I was alone and did not know where to go.
"Pak I drop you here and you need to walk about 50 meters to the reception counter."
I was fined until I stepped out of the taxi.
"You mean I need to use this wooden bridge to find the reception counter? It looks like a floating structure above the sea floor."
It was a new experience when you were booked into a floating hotel in Semporna.
The hotel used to be very famous and well like by tourist who were on their way to Simpadan island.
Dragon Inn Hotel if I am not mistaken.
Checked in and took a bath before hunting for some food to eat.
The next day I was amazed with the floating hotel. It actually was on stilts above the water surface. There were more than 100 rooms.
Took my free breakfast and met with the Vice President of IKS Sabah.
She briefed me on the schedule and I was asked to check out to another hotel nearby.
This time the hotel was on land.
After taking some photographs I checked out and walked to the new hotel. This was where the Seminar was organized.
After checking in I took a walk to Semporna small town.
Wanted to see any new things that can make me to decide to bring my wife over.
Frankly the town looks very old and run down. A bit dirty with many drains clogged with plastics and rubbish.
There were nothing much to see except where the water taxi lands their customers onto the jetty. Many inhabitants staying on those small islands will come to town to buy their necessities and you can see lots of young boys and girls meeting each other.
I took some close looked at any BHs in Semporna.
There were at least two that I am very sure they converted to BH.
One old building seems to attract lots of Serinti birds flying in and out from various openings that were not closed.
I was fascinated with one favourite window with steel bars which those serinti can fly in and out of it with ease.
Took some pictures and video clips to share with my blog readers.
Edible Birdnest farming can be considered an ideal, most exciting and a very lucrative business. This venture is suitable for those who live in parts of Cambodia, Southern Thailand, Burma, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippine and Indonesia. This blog is dedicated to my findings, crazy ideas, encounters with newbies, comments from friends, local news, pictures relevant to Birdnest plus my personal experiences and knowledge gained in swiftlet farming.
