"Pak Harry, How often should I revamp my BH? Will it affect my current tenants?"
A very common question and I need to be careful with my answers.
If you have just revamped your BH and you waited for almost three months. The moment you entered the house there was nothing progressing or no new bird shits markings on the floor and you know that something is not right.
You now have a few choices to do.
First is to give a few more months to evaluate the effectiveness of your revamp works done or you can look at what you have done wrong with the previous revamp.
If the recent revamp works was not right you might need to rework on it.
In operating a new BH you need to set a target number of nests which you wanted to accumulate so that you will have enough young birds to fill up the nesting planks.
The moment you nests population stop growing of reduced in the number of increment you need to start working on what else to be carried out for your own good.
I would say that you need to continue with the revamp operations until you get the target number of nests you set in your plan.
To minimize any disturbance try to carry out your revamp works during a specific time of the day when the number of birds at home are not many. Choose the right day, hot day if possible, and start at about 9.00am till 4:30pm.
Try to get your workers out of the BH before 5:00pm.
