(A BH with light poles around its corners creating the town atmosphere.)
I was patronizing this hardware shop located very far from town and on its own surrounded by jungles and palm oil trees.
This was where I buy my daily hardware items like those wood, ceiling boards, paint and etc.
The moment I entered the shop compound I saw this nice looking white colored BH just beside the main building.
Its ground floor was used as storage area while the top two floors was a BH.
Nicely done but with those strange light poles all around the side.
Hmm... this designer have some interesting thing in his mind.
Why must he installed those many light poles?
Do you think at night those light will be switched on and help to navigate the birds to their home?
It could be but will asked the owner and listen to his explaination.
I got a chance to talk to the owner and this was his answers:
1) He owned a total of three BHs and all adopted the same design.
2) The light was just to create the town atmosphere. If you visit those small town there will be lots of light and swiftlet love to stay in town away from predators mainly owls.
3) The BH have four entrance holes. Two and the front and two at the back.
4) The BH seems to be attack by owls very often since it is inside a palm oil plantation. So far 8 owls were captured and remove. There are still a lot from time to time.
So the idea of installing those light poles were mainly to create the town atmosphere.
It make sense but I am not sure if the plan works.
If not because of the constant attack by owls the BH should have done better, according to my source.
