Kuantan BH Reactivated !!!

I felt very glad that the owner(a young man)was absolutely very happy over what happened today.

Yes I finally reactivated a BH that was not doing well in Kuantan Pahang.

Three hours drive up and three hours down. Very taxing and back breaking but the joy was to see those big smile on the owner's face.

Started my journey this morning and was there at 11.00am.

The owner was there waiting for me.

Greet him and his Mom. I told myself that if I wanted the house to be ready need to act fast.

Did the inspection one by one and ensure that those new tweeters were installed facing the right directions.

The fresh bird shits taken from Setiawan were distributed on the lower and upper nesting rooms. They make the room smell very pungent and nice.

The humidifier were reactivated using a Hygrostat and a timer.

Both sounds, external and internal, were activated to check for any problem. Perfect all were well.

The most problematic was the activation of those amplifiers using digital timers for the switching of sound at different time.

Two of the 4 amplifiers were not working as per design. The right side connectors were not sending any signal.

Hmm ...... what can be done?

I quickly swab the amplifiers. Use the internal amplifiers and swab for the external. The external needs both the left and right while the internal using one side is no then enough.

All went well and before 3.30pm sprayed the walls and the entrance areas with my new formulated aroma called "Erotika" and "Mesmeriser".

These two are my latest formula and I hope those birds will not be scared or hates their smell. If they works well then I have a new formula to be shared with all my blog readers.

By 4.30pm the house was ready and we started with Tongkat Ali. Not many birds around due to the extreme weather condition (too hot).

By about 5.30pm the sound now was running my famous "Black Cloud". Waited and waited until darkness.

There were a number of birds that were affected by the call but the best was the short period just before sundown from 7.20pm till 7.45pm.

This was went those birds rush home. The moment they passed the roof top the "Black Cloud" lured them into the house.

It was something like a magnet. They will be drawn to the hexagonal, make a short round and in they go. There will be at least one bird every 10 seconds.

It was marvellous to see the whole activity. We have a neighbour who was also there to look at his BH just two units away.

The number of birds entering were more or less the same according to him.

After about 8.00pm I started my journey back to Kuala Lumpur.

The owner was very happy and I told him a few tips which I wanted him to do on a daily basis.

While on the Karak Kuantan Highway he sent this short SMS:

"Pak Harry, thanks for launching my BH and setting up the system together. U did a great job. I enjoyed working with U to make the BH successful. Thank U very much. From Steve."

He sound very happy and I hope all those efforts he put together following all my recommendations will do well for him and the family.

After 9 Month + 5 Weeks: 6 New BirdShits Spots.

My task in the rehabilitating a Birdhouse in Raub Pahang is on the right footing.

The house was with zero tenant for almost 9 months. After taking over for 5 weeks, my effort seem to be showing signs of revitalising. The house now have at least 12 birds tenanting a once empty BH.

The owner seem to know how to smile and the moment he saw those bird shits his life was back to normal.

I took lots of effort to personally orchestrate the rehabilitation.

Roughly the BH history was as follows:

The house was located among a row of shop houses in Raub, Pahang.

The nearest successful BH was about 20 blocks of shop houses away.

The owner is a Photo Shop owner and was very determined to owned a BH.

Was introduced to a so call "Consultant" who claimed to operate nothing less then 10 BHs in Peninsular. Based on such a wonderful track record, the job was given to him.

After more then 9 months, there was no sign of those bird shits anywhere in th House.

The owner confronted his Brother-in-Law for help knowing that the "Consultant" service was not showing any result.

The BIL, a very educated person, start his searches on the net and stumbled onto some internet "Sifus". I guess this was how Harry was located. That again after some hard talk with a few others.

After one visit, about 45 minutes, a full fledged recommendations was made to this Mr.Y.

He took this as his biggest challenged and did exactly as what I told him to do.

The moment he DIY those steps he asked me to come to town to inspect those modifications made.

I came in with some suitable gadgets to activate the house. The house temperature, humidity and brightness were back to normal.

Two weeks after activation, there were some signs of birds entering the BH but with no bird shit spots on the floor. Only on the walls.

Continued with the house rehabilitation, applying those fresh bird shits on the floor laced with ammonia powder, spray those new BH aroma on the walls.

Yesterday, after 5 weeks in operation, there were solid proof that the house was tenanted. There were fresh bird shits markings were on the floor. Six of them.

I am very sure in the next few weeks there will be more new tenant.

Activated the "Black Cloud" external bird call sound and the whole evening nearly every swiftlet passing by with take notice of the entrance hole and there were at least 30 to 50 birds that entered the house.

Applied the house with a few home made fake nests spike with those bird nest soup, the duck eggs, spray those wall's aroma, refresh those ammonia powder in the containers.

The internal temperature and humidity were perfect. Maximum Temperature was at 29.4*C and Humidity was 94%.

I am looking forward for the next visit to check the outcome. I know this unit will eventually be the best BH in Raub.

Common Mistakes That Can Jeopardize Your BH Sound System.

investment, Forex, banking, travel, tours, visit Malaysia, China, Hong Kong, Vancouver, Biotech, toys, watches, health, herbs, medicine, cancer cure, hair loss, fat, Disneyland, discovery, Australia, Bali, Acheh, antatica, blood clot, privaet eye, Obama, Britney Spears, Lohan, United Kingdom, Football, Betting, Casino.

One of the most important section that many BH owners failed to manage is the sound system.

I think 90% of those who operate their BH do not have any clue about how those amplifiers works and how they are timed to run at the right time of the day.

Some depend so much on their electricians or their consultant to do what the consultant/electrician think right.

Do you think what the consultant set is right or worse the electrician who knows nothing about BH operation?

Their idea is simple, as long the sound is working from say 7 am till 7 pm it is okay to them.

I don't think this is right and my advise is to clearly understand what is best for your BH and make sure those birds like the volume, the timing and the type of sound you played.

I was at this BH during my Friday BH outing and was looking at the sound system. I was supposed to change the sound only but upon looking at the configuration the electrician seem to have mess up the cables and everything was haywire.

Everything that was done was wrong and I am not going to leave until I reconnect those wires.

First was to identify the right cables to the right tweeters.

Then to allocate them to either the internal sound or the external sound.

Finally which should go to the Left and which to the Right connectors at the back of the amplifiers.

Once done you need to be able to control the volume so that the one to be loud is properly set and the lower sound be subjected to proper sound testing.

The method which the timer was used was not right and I have advised the owner to get a new digital timer to get the internal sound be played on a 24 hrs basis.

After reconnection and fined tuning the BH seem to be more appropriate and those birds were on the roof.

I told the owner it is a matter of time that they will become his long term tenant.

He smiled and this was the best smile for a very long time.

He said that for the last 7 months he could not smile and can never have a good sleep. He put every penny of his saving in this BH and the "Consultant" let him down very bad.

"Thank you Harry for all the help".

I am so happy that I put that smiles back on his face.

Inside me I feel sad that his wife is not well. I shed some tears while writing this article. Main reason being I was told by his good friend that his wife is terminally ill and he will loose her shortly.

I just cannot understand why his so call "Consultant" do this to him while he channelled all his saving to this project.

I hope my small contribution will at least make him and wife happy that the money was well spend.

(Note: If you have the same problem with your BH sound system and need a second opinion, just call Harry at 017 755 1318.)

You Have Started Your New Birdhouse So What Now ???

One of the most exciting moments of your life in swiftlet farming is when you have your birdhouse up and starts it operation.

Yes you took more then two months to convert the shop lot to Birdhouse and now you switch the call music, both internal and external, to welcome those wild birds.

The moment of truth started. You have these visions that there will be lots of birds coming into the house and within the next few days they will occupy your house and only your house.

You have this anxiety that your birdhouse is the best and no one else can be any superior then you. You have your sleepless night and wanted to get up as soon as the dawn breaks so that you will be at the birdhouse watching those birds circling above the house, coming in and make your house their new home.

The truth is that after three weeks you enter the house and there are none. Do you know why?

Because what you imagined was not what really happened. There were no sign of nests coming up. When you enter, about noon, all the birds are away foraging.

Hei, what is happening man? Why are the birds not staying? Hey, my Sifu have bluff me and I want to report to the Police !!!!(Some crazy things that comes to your mind)

The only thing that might see are some signs of bird shits on the floor just below those tweeters. If there are many spots then you are on the right track but if there are none then you are doomed.

Maybe three weeks is not good enough. You need to give at least three months.

Okay how about the roving room? You might want to see the number of bird shits on the four walls of the roving room. See how many of them. If there are none then again you know that no bird have entered the house. If there are some, then you know that they have entered and you have some chance to succeed.

These events are things that a new birdhouse owner will go through. Some are good but some are disappointing. All in all the results are based on the preparation that you have done before you convert or built the birdhouse.

If you have done your homework, like conducted the birdcall tests (many times) and ensure that your entrance holes are in the right direction, you will not be disappointed. Or else you have to quickly look at the next options as quickly as possible.

What are the options that you have if there are no birds coming in after 3 months?

My frank opinions look like this:

1) You might consider giving yourself another three months of agony to see what will happen. Just do nothing and hope for the best. (This option by not doing anything is very silly).

2) Change the birdcall sound to a new and better sound (especially external). Check again after three weeks. (Also very silly. You need to do more then changing the sound. Don't be stupid???)

2A) Add some fake nests close to the tweeters. Say 20 pieces. (You are getting better)

3) Relooked at the house temperature and humidity. Get some instrument that will chart the exact movement of the temperature plus humidity for hot days on 24 hours for three days at least. Actually this is something that U should do before you blast that birdcall music. (Hmm I am impressed with your progress. Okay go on).

3A) Add a few more water pool on each floor. Let it be more humid and maybe cooler !! ( You sound great and you got some future to be a successful birdhouse owner)

4) Do one more test on the room brightness? Are they within the recommended lux? If yes you are okay, if not you need to reduce them by placing a divider or canvas at the entrance from roving to nesting room to achieve your room lux. (Wow, you are tech savy. I am impressed)

4A) Splash some mixture of bird shits and water on the floor. (More like it. I think you are smart?).

5) Get hold of a third party who have the knowledge on birdhouse design to provide you the recommendations on what are not right and how to perfect them. He must be someone professional who will spend at least two days to check, monitor plus make a full report that will identify your house short comings. The report will also provide the recommendations that are required and it is up to you to decide the next steps. (Hmm now you realised that you need to have a third party to check and ask for help. Very Good my son...)

6) If you are still unsure, bring in one more third party, to make the same kind of recommendations so that you can have a better understanding of what went wrong with your birdhouse. If you put the two reports together you will see the major problems and you now need to tackle those crucial issues one by one. (This is getting too extreme but not a bad ideas. I am pretty sure your are in a very safe zones).

You have no choice but to work towards improvements that will eventually turn your birdhouse from zero occupants to full......
