Sabah Swiftlet Industries Is Going Towards The Right Direction !!!

SWIFIN President, Mr George Ng

I have been talking to a few important people involving in swiftlet farming industries in Sabah.

My conclusion is that the state is heading towards a healthy growth.

Both swiftlet farming farmers and the Government officials are looking at this newfound industry seriously. Both wanted to do what is right for the sake of the state and the industry.

I can see the important of coming out with a proper Guidelines to suit the state and if properly implemented they will see a tremendous growth in the industry.

Their surrounding, the flat land, the mountains and those rivers are very conducive and provided lots of fooding areas that can easily support at least 50,000 BHs in the next 10 to 15 years.

The number of BHs now is still very low (estimated below 500) and not many people are knowledgeable enough about it.

The recent Seminar organised by the Sabah Swiftlet House & Bird's nest Industry Association (SWIFIN)was on the headlines on many of the local Dailies.

My pictures was also on them. (Hmmm twice in KK and twice got myself on their dailies. Not bad at all)

The commitment made by the Ketua Pengarah of Perhilitan and Perhutanan is something that will steer the Industry to the right direction.

Sabah Ketua Pengarah of Perhilitan Dr. Larentious Ambu.

I was invited to deliver a paper during the Seminar.

I told the SWIFIN that I will be very happy to be involved in their activities in ensuring that swiftlet industries in Sabah will be much better then the other states.

All the need to do is to strengthen their activities and get all swiftlet farmers in the state to be their member.

In the meantime the board members must focus on their primary objectives and get working for the sake of the Industry.

There are so many that can be done for the state and they cannot allow the Industry to become uncontrollable like those in Peninsula Malaysia.

They also cannot allow the State Department to be so stringent like those being carried out in Sarawak.

What they need to do is to come out with a win-win formula so that both the farmers and the State benefited together in championing the industry.

The Association can be very usefull in working as a Team.

While their basic function is to ensure that Members will have the BH to be populated in the shortest possible time they Association will also be responsible is getting the State Athourities to implement a fair Guidelines.

For record purposes: I was officialy appointed as one of SWIFIN Advisor & Consultant. I feel very honored and will help SWIFIN in every areas that need my help.
