Poor Humidity Can Be a Big Problem To Your Birds !!!

Case No 1):

This young bird must be ready to fly however her leg was entangled on the nest where she was hatched.

The poor bird must have died due to starvation.

Usually if they have nothing to eat for about three days they will die of starvation.

The cause of this mishap is dryness or low humidity in the BH.

The low humidity causes the nests to crack.

These crack opening become a kind of trap and waiting for some thing to happen.

If these young birds are not careful and accidentally their leg are caught that it.

Case No 2):

Two nests one below the other.

If you observe the two nests you will find that the top nest looks older as compared to the lower nest.

The top nests seems to be yellowish and lot of cracks.

The lower nest seems like a new nest with whiter and smoother surface.

What I think happen here was that the owner of the top nest abandoned the old nest and erect a new one just below the old nest.

Just imagine if the nest on the top is still with a tenant.

The nest below will be bombarded with bird shit and there is no way the baby inside it will survive.

The lesson we learn from this case is that swiftlet are smart and will abandon their old nest if they feel not safe to start a new family.

When you see this you know that those old nests must be remove or harvest.
