Parit Buntar BH With No Nest After More Than A Year !!!

"Pak Harry what can be terribly wrong with my BH? After more than a year not a single nest so far."

This was the precise word from a Kampung Chicken dealer and a farmer.

A 25 feet by 80 feet three stories high about 150 meters away from the main town areas with many successful BHs.

It was facing a wide River and lots of birds flying above the BH every morning and evening.

There were a few bird shit spots on the upper floor but nil on the first floor.  The ground floor was converted into an office for his chicken dealer operation.

The first part of the BH that I told him that might be the cause was the entrance system.

It was half opened and the open type was not suitable for the area.  Most of his neighbors BHs were the side entrance type.

The top entry gives him little advantages towards the river and the flying path.

There was very little attraction to get those swiftlet to enter the top hole.

I suggested to relook at the entrance type and suggested to erect a monkey house.  He needs to open at least two entrance window facing the flying path and the river.  Since the east was towards the flying path I did not asked him to open another window.

The current opening, a door about 4 feet X 8 feet was not properly positioned.  The birds will need to take a very sharp turn to be able to enter the other door into the main hall.

I told him to shut the current door and open a window at the other end of the wall.

The next big problem he faces was this awkward positioning of the LAL.  It was not properly thought of and was too far from the entrance door from the roving to the main hall.

I told the owner that his contractor or consultant did a big mistake on this and we can only rectify without major renovation on it.

The best was to close some of the area and force those birds to fly above the LAL.

Both floors were not properly designed.  No VIP room(s) and it was too bright.

I recommended a possible partitioning and he agrees to my recommendation.

The 1s floor also needs some rooms to be added.

The area around the LAL need to be covered to prevent excessive light from the entrance doors.

As usual the number of tweeters inside the BH was very little.

Need to add about 200 per floor.

The amplifiers used were low quality and I recommended a new set for a better and clearer sound.

He was very glad with my visit report and promised to make the necessary modification immediately after the ghost month.

I reassured him that I will drop by as and when I am back in SP.
