Edible Birdnest farming can be considered an ideal, most exciting and a very lucrative business. This venture is suitable for those who live in parts of Cambodia, Southern Thailand, Burma, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippine and Indonesia. This blog is dedicated to my findings, crazy ideas, encounters with newbies, comments from friends, local news, pictures relevant to Birdnest plus my personal experiences and knowledge gained in swiftlet farming.

Revival Of A Failed Birdhouse !!!
Remember the failed house in Port Klang?
The unit that was seriously attack by termites and after three years there were about 30 nests.
I visited the birdhouse and submitted to the owner a list of observations and recommendations.
This morning received an email from the owner confirming that he have started to revive the failed birdhouse.
I am very happy and delighted to know about it and I hope all my points will be used as his guidelines.
He must have terrible nightmares but at the end of the day he learned the mistakes which I hope he will be willing to share with those who are facing the same problems or with newbies.
I will try to work closely with him and perhaps make some observations so that the outcome can be reported on this blog.......
This was his email to me that I wud like to share will all my blog readers:
Hi, Harry,
Gong Xi Fa Cai ! Long time no hear n no see !
Anyway, just to update u of what I have done economically to improve the failed ranch.
1) All termites infected planks been removed n left blank
2) Termites specialist has put in a special bait and concealed in a box for termites to eat n carry away the virus back to the queen to makan n be destroyed. This result can only be noticed in about 2 or 3 months time
3) 5 nos. fluorescent lights been installed inside for harvesting purpose plus 1 no. at the in-out hole to attract fly n deter predator
4) Existing 2 nos. of chicken farm type humidifyers located at 2nd floor been relocated to 1st floor so that 1st floor humidity is controlled by 3 nos. of chicken farm type humidifyers. The 2nd floor humidity is controlled by a new piped mistifying system quite similar to that of mamak food stall type
5) Water in the pond at roving area is filled up
6) Nos. of Tweeters been increased
After the CNY, I will do the following :-
a) Spray SP solution on the floor n wall
b) Install fake nests using styrofoam
c) Put indicators markers on the nests
Hopefully, the above can help a lot n I will tell u more
God bless you my friend and I will always be there if U need any help or a helping hand.......
PS: I have just spoken to the owner and I told him that I hope he was following my report and recommendations. He confirmed yes. He was at the house during the weekend and he was very happy to see that there were many birds circling his birdhouse. He is pretty sure they are coming back.
He promised to keep me updated.
To me I feel so happy for him and I wish I cud give him all the helps that I can to ensure that he continue to modify the house and do not give up......
One thing for sure is than this guy is going to be my very good friend for a long long time.........
