Many of us would like to know how and when this multi-million business came into being in Malaysia.
How? When? What actually started swiftlet farming in Malaysia?
While being driven by my SIFU in SPatani and Padang Serai, he started this story about how he got involved in Swiftlet Farming.
Based on his story, he was one of the first Malaysian into Birdnest business. It happenned by accident.
In late 1990s (1997-1998), the recession was hitting so many people and countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philliphine were badly hit. There are more miseries than good when the exchage rates goes haywired and many leaders could not shield their people from those culprits.
In Indonesia, the scenario was so bad that it become more toward racial issue. The Chinese ethnic became a target of the angry locals and many of their assets , belonging inclusive of their home, office and factories were being burned and destroyed.
This was when these rich Chinese Indonesians started their migration to Malaysia and Singapore. It happened that some of these Chinese are a close friend of my Sifu.
When they came to Penang, they like the environment in Malaysia. What catch them was the environment (climate) here were nothing different from those in Indonesia. At the same time there were lots of shoplots that were going for a song (cheap).
With their birdnest experiences back home, they now see a land of opportunities in Malaysia. There were so many abandon shop lots that they can turn into gold mine.
This was where my Sifu started his involvement in Birdnest farming. He actually was just a follower and saw an opportunity that he himself did not realised that it will be a multimillion dollars opportunities.
So many people now benefited by this event and many developers revived their abandon projects due to this special even.
