My Full Day With Swiftlets Activities !!!

Yesterday was so short but I made it with so many new discoveries which make me feel that these wild swiftlets are one of the best gift to many Malaysians.

I started my trip to SPatani at 10.30 am from KLSentral to LCCT at Subang Airport. My flight was at 1.40pm and landed in Penang at 2.30pm. Immediately after checking out took a limosine taxi straight to SPatani Park Avenue hotel.

At the hotel was received by my SP SIFU (SpS) that was at 4.00pm. Since the clock was ticking we did not have any lunch but proceeded to one of the largest Birdhouse build on an agricultural land located at Semeling, Bedong, Kedah.

The unit is magnificient, gigantic and so beautiful. The dimension is 40 feet by 80 feet and 5 stories high. I was amazed and feel so proud to discover a new birdhouse that is turning more white gold for a Malaysian.

After taking some pictures, we proceeded to two other birdhouses that were build in between a three stories shop houses. We took more pictures and proceed two farm houses belonging to my SIFU.

Both units were heavily occupied by these white gold builders and numerous birdnest were seen on the wooden ceilings. Amazing and how fortunate the owner is. According to my SIFU SPatani now have a total of at least 800 units of birdhouses scattered both in the town areas and it's surrounding. He have a fair share of the houses. He now have not less then 10 units.

His current harvest is about 40K-70K a month. He have sold a few units these few years and intended to keep what he has now for his retirement purposes.

After rounded up in SPatani, we proceeded to Padang Serai, Kulim about 20 Kilometers away.

We were taken to a shoplot area at Taman Damai. There were many units that are now converted to Birdhouse. One of the earliest unit was built by my SIFU, unit number 167.

This is our focal point and we inspected the unit externally and how beautiful it was done up. The unit consisted of an end unit, 3 stories and a middle unit of 2 stories high. They are interconnected. Beautifully painted, with CCTV and flood lights around the building.

There was not much activities at 6.30pm however my SIFU forced us to stay till around 7pm. We waited patienly at the same time worried that we might miss our flight.

At around 6.45pm the swiftlet activities were picking up where a stream of swiftlets were coming back. The darker the day was the more keep coming back. By pass 7.00pm the number increases and U will be astonished with how many that were swerving right into the roof inlet. Hundreds and hundreds keep flying back from the forrage areas and the moment the reach the unit they swop in like those Japanese Kamikaze Pilots.

It was magnificient and stimulating experience. Our jaws were opened and lots of our saliva dripping from our mouth.
Beautiful sight and I recomend to all those swiftlet lovers to have this experience and U will never be the same person.

By 7.30pm we have to rush back to Penang to catch our plane back to Subang.

My conclusion is that, the trip was awesome. I gain so many new experiences and will want to see those birds in action again.
