How To Force Those Young Birds To Occupy Those Flat Surface !!!

If you are new in swiftlet farming and very observant you might be able to guess where those new tenants will stay in your BH.

They will usually chose either those corners closed to your internal tweeters or above the tweeters itself.

More than 90% of those new nests will be at those nesting planks corners.

They will only start to occupy your flat areas once all the corners are taken.

But I think if your are smart and know their weaknesses, you can push them to build their nests on those flat surfaces.

One thing for sure nests that are on the flat surface fetches a better price as compared to those build at corners (90* shapes or 130* shapes).

So what can be the possible methods to persuade them to build their nests on the flat surfaces?

Try these ideas:

1) Find a suitable pheromone that will make them crazy of those spots spray.  Once you have identified the correct pheromone you can strategies how to apply them at those selected locations.  Try not to spray all over your nesting planks but select the preferred locations.  Do them stage by stage.

2) You need to think of what other things that will attract these wild birds to the flat area.  My best recommendation is to use a tear-able fake nests.  I have been using this gel type 180* shape nests.  Once those birds occupied the nest I can easily tear it away leaving the original nest on the nesting plank.  What I will do is to chose the preferred location and install about 10 - 15 of these tear-able nests and wait for it to be tenanted.

The fake nests can be easily installed on another plank once taken down.

You need to be very cleaver in coming out with new ideas to make sure those birds will build their nest where then should.

Have a look at the pictures taken after installing the fake nest in Penang recently.

Those who wanted to try this beautiful idea please call me for a set of these soft fake nests.

Each piece is only RM 5.50 and it come in a pack of 50 pieces.

All you need to do is to use those cigarette lighter and heat the areas to be attached to the nesting planks.

Have a good day and I hope this new idea is something that you can plan for your new BH.....
