"Harry please be careful when you purchase those raw nests from BH owners. If their BH is very closed to a busy street those nests might have high content of arsenic materials like lead, mercury, cadmium and other arsenic materials."
Excuse me Sifu where do these arsenic materials comes from?
"Those fumes from car/buses/lorries exhaust gases. We in Malaysia are fortunate that our Government have stop those petrol that uses lead to improve the octane number. However some neighbouring countries are still using lead."
Hmm ..... more interesting things that I gathered and I am sure all my blog readers have never though about these issues.
"You see if you wanted to export your processed nests overseas you will be required to sent the batch sample to a laboratory. Based on which country you are going to export to you need to ensure that all those items that are needed be properly check. Only if the passed the minimum level can you arrange to sent them over. You cannot cheat because when the product arrived in the country of destination the health authorities there will conduct similar test. If they are found to be above the specific level, all your good will be confiscated."
Wow ...... this must be something that is compulsory since they will be consumed by the people in the country.
"There are a number of qualified laboratories in Malaysia and make sure you know which country to export and what will be their requirements."
"Beside those arsenic materials they will also need to test for Total Plate at 37*C, E Coli, staphylococcus aureus and salmonella."
Well well well. Very strange tests and I am not too sure what those things are. Might be some kind of bacterias.
A very good advise from my Sifu and I am sure the above conversations are useful to all.
