Before the recent trip I was with the opinion that the number of swiftlet in the state in marginal and there is very little hope that the state can be as good as those in Peninsular States like Kelantan or Pahang.
Now, after finishing my visit to almost 10 BHs in Kota Kinabalu and its surroundings, I am impressed and fascinated with the huge number of birds that entered three of four which I tested using my most powerful sound "The Black Cloud".
The first was in Tuaran, about 8 kilometers from Kota Kinabalu. The BH was isolated in an agricultural land closed to the sea.
When I first stepped my foot in the BH compound I can see a sizable number of birds in the sky. Most of them were playing and perhaps feeding in the sky. There were about two hundreds of them.
The moment I inserted the Black Cloud thumb drive into the player plus a small adjustment to the amplifiers, they simply attack the entrance area and almost all in the sky were vacuumed into the house.
We played for almost 15 minutes and have a fantastic time to observe the effect of the sound on those wild birds.
Every birds that can listen to the sound will zoom to the entrance area and enter the BH.
They were like those young boys under the influence of drug and become frenzy with the sound.
The BH owner was so amazed with the scene and he keep saying that he have never seen such a reaction.
To me it was something new too and a very good experiences.
What we did next was to enter the BH and observe their behaviours.
We switch the light on and when we entered the birds simply were not bothered with our presence. They behave as if we were not there. They show no fear to us and keep flying inside the house without stopping.
There were at least 3,000 birds in the house, three floors, within less then 15 minutes of playing the Black Cloud.
More were entering and we came out to observe the vacuuming action.
This was one of the proof that there are lots of birds in Sabah and they are easy to be attracted to any BH with good sound.
