Most aromas are pretty expensive and they might last perhaps two to three weeks after each application.
The cost is worth every penny if you see them works for your BH.
Just do this simple arithmetic. One bottle of about 1.5 liters will cost you about RM 200. You need to apply them at least twice a month per floor.
If you get just one nest after every application your BH value will jump up by RM1,000.
Let say every month there is one nest after 2 bottles of RM 200. Your layout is just RM 400 and you get RM1,000. Not bad at all.
What if the aroma is so effective and you easily get say 50 nests after the application?
With RM400 you increase your BH value to RM50,000. It that too much to spend?
I am sure many of us will spend hours to decide on the use of these aromas, there effectiveness, how many birds will I get and etc.
The issue here is should you venture into this strange method of applying aromas to lure those birds.
My frank answer is yes but you must make sure that your BH is ready for it.
When I say ready, I mean that your BH must have the right environment with everything in place.
You need to make sure that the sound you play will lure those birds inside your BH and the moment they are in they will be glued to those walls or nesting planks that you just applied the aroma (must be the right aroma).
When should you apply these selected aromas?
From someone who believe in aromas, apply them just before you are about to leave home after your bimonthly maintenance works.
Immediately after finishing the application you must not stay one minute more.
That comes from somebody that have so much experience to talk about swiftlet farming.
