Styrofoam Fake Nests Inside A New BH !!!
Some prefer to use plastic while many are finding Styrofoam fakes nests are useful in luring those wild birds.
During my BH visit in Alma,Seberang Prai, I was very attracted to the way how this BH owner place his Styrofoam fake nests.
Firstly he told me of how he came to the conclusion that fake nests do works.
It seem that during his recent visit to a BH owned by his close friend he saw the usefulness of those fake nests.
After looking at how effective they are he swear that he will use them in all his new BHs.
What I was very attracted about was where he placed them.
His method of application is to concentrate at the nesting planks located on the room walls. Yes the perimeter of the rooms.
Every few feet he placed one. (Look at the pictures attached)
According to him most of the time these birds when they enter the BH they will end up to the end of the room. If they like the sound played they will cling to any protruded items on the wall.
The fake nests plays an important role in increasing you BH birds population.
I agreed with his comment but remember once the ideal number (300 nests) is achieved you need to remove them in total.
To those who are new in swiftlet farming try to copy this styrofoam installation.
You have nothing to loose by using this simple technique that my friend is doing.
Each styrofoam cutting (4"X1.5"X0.5") is only about 5 sen.
