" A Metropolitan Cave Birdhouse"

I wanted to come with a sentence to describe a birdhouse that have the features of a cave.

I choose "Metropolitan Cave" to describe this beautiful and unique birdhouse design.

I am not going to tell U who is the designer and who is the owner. But I am very impressed with the idea behind such a design.

The birdhouse was formally an abandoned factory lot and located in the middle of a terrace.

Entrance is from the back.

Once U enter the main door at the ground level, U will come across a control room where the sound system is located. Not a big one but enough to allow two person to be in.

There were two doors, one to the right (to the water collection pool and to the front (lead into the nesting areas).

You enter the right door and you will see a recycling water pond complete with water pumps that push the water onto the upper floor. In the event of heavy rain the water have a special trap to drain the excess water out of the building.

You enter the front door you will pass thru two nesting areas. One is closed to the control room area and the other is the main.

To the left is the staircase that brings U to the 1st floor.

On the upper floor you have three rooms (2 roving rooms and one nesting area). The main roving room led you to the roof top. To avoid possible burglar a make ship ladder is provided.

On the roof is where U will see the specially made wall, and two ponds. Water is ejected from the pipes installed onto the wall. Once flowed out it will be collected into the 1st pond and will be channel to the next pond.

After passing the 2nd pond the water will drop to the ground level pond where the recirculation pump pushes the water back to the top.

I am amused with the design. Just imagine listening to the water fall from the rooftop on to the pond below the house. It is just like a waterfall in a jungle.

In the nesting areas, the walls are provided with plastic pipes where water will continuously be sprayed and allowed to be drained out to the ground floor pool.

The owner claimed that the design will benefits the house as follows:

1) The house will be cooled by these water flowing on the walls to the floor.

2) The roof top water cascading down to the bottom will provide both the cooling effect and sound of water splashing into a pool.

3) In total the house is a cave in a city. I called it “A Metropolitan Cave".

I am very very impressed with the effort and the creativity of this person plus his Sifu.

Never in my dream that I could think about this before but you can see that there are people who will go to such an extreme.......

Harry,

My farm has the same system that you mentioned about the cave birdhouse . Have a look at my farm album. I have running water and sprinkler as well and the empty flower boxes will be filled with plants and vines flowing down the bare brickwalls

Tirokswifts,
Wonderful things to include and I heard Ling is having the same design. If I were the swiftlets I will choose your house.
It is really nice to share those things that can improve the birds population.
