Make your BH addictive To Those Young Birds !!!

Many of us who owned birdhouses have little ideas about having proper planning in increasing the number of nests in their BHs.
The reason being no one have ever advise them on the required planning.

We blindly follow every guys that we talked to and never try to venture into something scientific or sensible.

To me after a number of years of doing my research, I believe we should consider the task of populating our BH should be split into at least two phases.

The first phase is during the first two to three years or earlier and the second phase is once our BH reaches a population that it can self generate. I mean the baby birds in the house.

When you first started to operate your new BH you are actually dependent on those stray young birds that belongs to you neighbors or from some far places. In the beginning you are actually 100% dependent from those that flew above your roof top.

But when your BH reaches a certain sizable nests number you are actually be less dependent on those stray birds. You can actually shift your focus on how to make those young birds to stay with their parent in the same house. You can actually be less dependent on those stray birds from other houses.

The idea now is to focus on how to make all of them stays.

Let us look at when your BH have reached 300 nests number or roughly 600 birds.

Every 4 months (one cycle), the 300 pairs of birds will generate the the same 600 babies in your BH. So in one year you do have a baby making machine that will produce a minimum of 600 X 3 = 1,800 young birds.

If you calculate the percentage, this 1800 is 300% of the original tenant in the beginning of 600 birds.

Just imagine if you get all the 300% to stay and not moving to other house beside you? The total number of nests that you can generate, assuming all stays with you, should be 1,200 nests in the following year.

What happened on the second 12 months? You take 1,200 and multiply with 4. This will be 4,800 nests? The next 12 months will again be multiplication of 4,800 by 4 = 19,200 nests.
An so on .......

So do you still think those stray birds are that important anymore?

Well my frank answer is yes but they are just as my bonus. My real attention will be on those young babies that are being produced in my own BH.

I will change all those aromas, the sound, the internal micro habitats and miscellaneous to ensure that my BH is now addictive. Those young birds will no longer wish to move to any other BH in the vicinity because their birthplace is superior then the rest.

The morale of this article is that retaining those young birds with you is much better then chasing after other people birds to populate your BH. Shift your attention when your BH reached a sizable nests number, say 300 nests.

Pak Harry how to make them stay?

That is something that I am working on. I am producing and testing a special "Swiftlet Viagra" for this special occasion.
