Sungai Pinyu "Walet Central" Off Pontianak, Indonesia

I have this special opportunity to visit a place which was labelled at "Walet Central".

This was a part of the activities included in the recent Seminar on "Advance Swiftlet Farming" held in Pontianak, Indonesia.

Walet Central is a term that must be fully understood by all swiftlet farming enthusisast. This is due to the fact that once a place is categories as "Walet Central" you know that there will be a lot of birds moving towards it especially in the evening.

If your BH happened to be along the flying path, your sucess rate is high. Some people said that it might be as high as 90%.

In Sungai Pinyu, this particular place, beside the main road from Pontianak to Kucing, there were at least 30 birdhouses in one sigle spot. The distance from each other is about a few meters. Most of them are four to five stories and with width of about 8 meters upward and wide almost 30 meters.

Some of the units were old, about 6 years, but many are under constructions.

Please enjoy yourself with these pictures:
