Two Questions And Two Answers !!!

Before my trip to Pontianak, I remember receiving some unusual questions that need a very careful answers.

The First was: "Will there be any swiftlets in the deep interior say 100 kilometers away from any rivers or beaches?".

The second came from two separate blog readers: "Harry what is your best advise on how to remove those BATs?".

I reserved my intelligent comments but after talking to a few inclusive of Pak Hen, the best answers given are:

1) Deep Interior.

You cannot simply make any judgment just because your locations are far away from any water sources and the sea. The best thing to do is to carry out the birdcall test.

The birdcall test will give you the best answer. If there are swiftlets then it is okay to go ahead. It does not matter how far it is from the sea or the water sources.

2) How To Remove those BATS ?

Pak Hen was straight to the point. "SHOOT THEM". Sound very simple but how to get the gun? We need license to carry a gun in our country. Well in that case use those catapult (lastik getah). Well that sound more logical. But can you be a sharp shooter?

The next suggession was to open your indoor lights. The bat will be dazed and they will be in for a big shock. Catch them with a net during that moment.

A better way is to place a flood light at the entrance hole. If you know they like to enter the house say at midnight till 5 am, then you use a timer to put the light on during those time zone.

Hope the above are useful for those who have similar problem ....
