Fake bottled bird's nest seized, 3 arrested

Customs have seized 75,000 bottles of fake bird's nest worth $400,000, arresting two men and a woman, aged 25 to 33, in raids on offices and warehouses in Kowloon Bay and Western.

Officers found several bird's nest products of different brands sold in local markets, including a supermarket chain, through a local food retailer.

Government Laboratory tests found the bottles contained no bird's nest or harmful substance. The products were manufactured by a Mainland factory, and Guangdong customs has been notified. The products had been sold at lower prices by people taking advantage of the Lunar New Year to sell fakes.
