Opening Of More Then One Entrance Hole !!!

"Harry Can I open another entrance hole for my new BH?"

Now he has already open one entrance hole and now wanted to open another hole.

What do you think I will say to him?

Yes go ahead it is your BH and you have every right to do what ever you like.

However before you do that can I know you purposes of doing so.

Is it because you saw your neighbors doing so and you want to follow him?

Or because you feel that you just want to try new things.

Remember, what ever you do to your BH you must have a very solid reasons why you wanted them so badly.

If you have more then one entrance hole you will face the following problems:

1) Your BH humidity will go haywire's. You are supposed to control them so that they do not fluctuate to much. Having more holes means you allow the outside air to create havoc in the BH. Every time there are high wind outside there you give them the opportunities to blow into the hole. Young chicks hates winds.

2) The more the entrance holes the more will those light enter your BH. Swiftlet do not feel safe in a brightly lit BH. If they feel so safe then why don't they build their nests along those 5 footway in the town or under those bridges.

3) The more the holes the more opportunities or options for those burglars to choose which hole to enter your BH. The lesser the better.

4) Beside burglars, those owls, rats, bats, lizards, cockroaches and many more predators will be too happy to be your neighbor.

5) Those who have two hole in the same floor, side by side, will actually allow the birds to come in from one hole and fly out through the other hole. As such you miss a very good opportunity to make them enter the BH

6) The more the entrance holes, the easier your aroma be spilled out. You will be wasting lots of monies in applying those costly liquids.

The only good reasons that I can think of are:

1) You have open the first hole facing the wrong direction. Yes you can open a new hole but you can also consider to slowly shut the wrongly faced hole.

2) What about if you find out that after opening the 1st hole, facing the flight path, but suddenly you find that those birds are always at the back of your BH playing in those water ponds. Or perhaps someone have a very successful BH at the back of your BH and every evening there are thousands of birds circling on the top of his roof? Well I will very stupid if I do not open another hole facing that direction?

3) Your BH is more then 3 stories high and the lowest floor is pitch dark. You need some light in so that the birds will populate the ground floor. So you can consider the 2 holes option.
So before you consider opening any additional hole just think carefully and make sure your reasons are solid.
Every step that you take they must be with solid reasons. Look at all possibilities. Their Pros and Cons before making those decision.
Well still the BH is yours. You can do anything with it and whenever you want. Yes go ahead and be my guess.
