Why You Frooze Those Nests Before Storage ??

"Harry I read an article about the need of freezing the harvested nests before storage. Do you know why?"

I have not come across this new idea but there must be a good reason why they must be put in a freezer.

First the freezer is damn cold and I am sure those ticks, lice, bugs, fleas and many other bird's parasites will be frozen to death. If that is done they will stop breading in the nest.

The second is something to do with the humidity. The freezer is cold and the humidity is dry. If you place your nests inside the freezer they might helped to stabilize the nest humidity.

Hmm I hope I am right but fellows if you have any other possible reasons please do sent your comments.

We need to know the reasons behind such move.

The other day another experience BH owner mentioned the same. Keep them in the refrigerator for a few hours then place them back in the room temperature. After that store them away.
